iModernize migrates RPG and CL applications to .NET and Java.
With iModernize, application migration requires description files and the source code for RPG and CL applications. Within a comprehensive desktop, the sources from the AS/400 are collected and translated into Java or C#. Java or .NET compilers then translate the generated sources before iModernize adds a run-time environment that emulates AS/400-specific components. Optionally, all data can be converted from DB2 to a SQL database. The migrated software can access both the DB2 database as well as any other SQL database. This gives our customers the choice of using DB2 as a database server for the migrated software, or switching to a SQL database. As shown below, application components don’t have to be migrated at once. With iModernize, the AS/400 can remain in place as the migration takes place in stages.
Key Features
The following is a list of the most important features of iModernize:
- The Upfront Analysis Tool reduces project risk by identifying all technology that cannot be migrated through automation, and by verifying the completeness of code and data received for migration.
- Users who are familiar with the green screen functionality can use the GUI without additional training. If required, input handling is kept very similar to the green-screen mode (e.g. cursor key, F-keys, keyboard buffers, etc.).
- 5250 terminal emulation can still be used so that the GUI generated by screen scrapers is still applicable.
